Coping Strategies for Office Rats

MeditationFor every challenge that you face as an office worker, there are plenty of coping strategies.

  • Got stress? Practice relaxation techniques. If it's a full in-box that's bugging you, then work on your productivity. If it's general tenseness, then give yourself a massage (better yet, if you live in Seattle get a professional massage).
  • Got pain? Learn postural and ergonomic best practices to prevent it, and try some hydrotherapy to alleviate it.
  • Got tight or weak muscles? Get some exercise. Do stretches and strengthening exercises designed for the unique needs of office workers.
  • Got too little personal time? Implement work-life balance strategies.
  • Got fatigue? Take a nap at work and/or improve your sleeping set-up at home.
  • Got lethargy? Get moving. Revitalize yourself with breathing practices, better nutrition, and aerobic exercise.
  • Feeling off kilter? Work on your balance and cultivate better body awareness.
  • Worried about catching something from that guy sneezing in the next cubicle? Practice good office hygiene.
